Kejkina Bakery

[pronounced: keɪkiːnə]

A female-owned home-baked artisan confectionary

Background

Kejkina Bakery is a one-woman bakery based in Malta, by Lara Zerafa, a female entrepreneur. Her brand started in the confines of her own home when she was still a student, and it grew from there, specialising in artisan cakes, cookies, cupcakes.

 The Brief

Lara wanted to give a fresh new look to the bakery. She wanted to show that her brand is maturing and growing, and that it is now a lot more than the home bakery she first started as a young adult. Yet, she wanted to maintain the 'homely' feel of what her brand represents, and wanted to showcase the idea that this is a small business where the line of production of Kejkina's products are handled by only a handful of people, with dedication and love.

How does a small business:

  • maintain a personal touch with that ‘home-made’ ‘made with love’ feel, which both new and returning customers can be able to relate to, identify with, and trust,

  • while still remaining contemporary and maintain a branding image that can stand the test of time and convince new customers that this brand bakes and delivers the freshest, tastiest baked goods on the island?

One of the most important elements that the client wanted to include in the logo is adding a personal touch to the logo, which for her meant that she would create a logo mascot that resembles her so that clients can relate the face/mascot to the woman behind the bakery.
